2009 Field Exercise G-2
Last Update: 29 August 2009

Gilbert to Big Pocono is a line-of-sight path workable with backpack
VHF sets and HF sets with short vertical antennas. K4CHE even
managed this with the URC-4 pilot's survival radio on 2-meters.

Gilbert to Beltzville is tougher. KW1I had a hard time on 75-meters with the radio in his truck and a 20-ft whip.

The Gilbert to Jacobsburg path is directly across the Kittatinny Ridge
(Blue Mountain) and a couple of rows of hills. VHF is out of the
question. However, WB2JHU and N3FRQ managed nicely with an
inverted-V at 15 feet and 7 watts AM from the RCA MI-8751 (SCR-288).
